What is Break-even discount?
A break-even discount is the largest discount that leaves profit unchanged, given the extra orders or units it brings. Past that point, each extra order costs more than it earns.
The arithmetic depends on your margin and on how many buyers would have paid full price anyway. A 20 percent discount needs far more extra orders to break even on a 30 percent margin than on a 70 percent one.
