Freebies Engine

Add a post-purchase upsell

Add one product to an order with one click after payment. Needs the Pro plan in Freebies Engine by Log Studio Lab; works for card payments in standard checkout.

The Post-purchase upsell shows one offer on a Shopify page that appears right after payment, before the order confirmation. The shopper accepts with one click and pays with the payment method they just used. The product is added to the order they placed. It needs the Pro plan in Freebies Engine by Log Studio Lab.

Turn it on

  1. Create the offer from the Post-purchase upsell template. Choose a Trigger, the Offered product, the Discount and the Message.
  2. Publish the offer. Publishing does not wait for the next steps.
  3. In Shopify, go to Settings, Checkout and choose Freebies Engine by Log Studio Lab for the post-purchase page. Only one app can run that page, so choosing Freebies Engine by Log Studio Lab replaces any other post-purchase app.
  4. Place a test order with a card. On the Placement step, Seen at checkout turns done once Shopify has asked about an order.

Which orders see it

Shopify only shows this page after card payments in your online store. It skips wallet payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, gift cards, buy-now-pay-later, orders outside your online store, local delivery and orders with duties in several currencies. How many orders that is depends on your store, so Estimated reach on Placement and Review shows the share of your paid orders that reached the page in the last 30 days.

What the offer does

  • One offer shows per order: the first live post-purchase offer, in stacking order, whose trigger matches.
  • Choose a product to let shoppers pick a variant, or one variant to always offer that one. Shoppers can add up to the quantity you set, within your stock.
  • The discount, a percent or an amount off, applies to the added item only. Amount off only works on orders in your store's own currency, so stores that sell in several currencies should use percent off.
  • The added item ships with the original order at no extra cost to the shopper.
  • Show to a customer limits how often a signed-in customer sees the offer. Guests can't be recognized, so they see it every time.
  • The offer hides when the product is sold out or below the stock you set, and when the order already contains the product.
