Before you pay for any promotions app, check what Shopify already gives you. Its built-in Buy X get Y discount and its free Shopify Bundles app are enough for some stores. What Shopify's documentation says

Buy X get Y. Shopify's Help Center says customers must add all items to their cart manually. It also says Buy X get Y discounts created in the Shopify admin do not apply to the post-purchase page at checkout. It lets you set a maximum number of uses per order.

Bundles. Shopify's Help Center says you must have a bundles app installed to create product bundles, and that bundles can be sold through the Online Store, Shop and Shopify POS. The Shopify Bundles app listing shows it as free and supports fixed bundles and multipacks, as of 2026-10-11.

  • Fewer moving parts. There is nothing to install, review or uninstall.
  • Selling channels. Shopify says bundles can be sold through the Online Store, Shop and Shopify POS.

  • Choice of offer shapes. The Buy one, get one (BOGO), Buy X, get Y and Custom gift offer templates start an offer from a ready shape. The custom template is described as "Choose your own trigger, rules and gifts from scratch."

Who should stay with native

  • You run one or two simple discounts and shoppers do not mind adding a free item themselves.
  • You sell fixed bundles or multipacks and the free Shopify Bundles app covers them.

Who should choose Freebies Engine by Log Studio Lab

  • The free item must appear in the cart without the shopper adding it.
  • You want gift tiers, a progress bar or a custom gift rule.
  • You want to run gifts, bundles, upsells and shipping offers from one place.
