Tiered Spend Rewards for Shopify Stores

Reward bigger carts with more on Shopify: when a tiered gift ladder fits, how the Gift tiers template works and how to space the steps.

A tiered offer gives more as the cart grows: one gift at one spend level, two at the next. It turns a single target into a ladder, so a shopper who reached the first step has a reason to climb to the second.

When it fits

  • Your orders spread across a wide range of values, so one line would miss many of them.
  • You have more than one gift, or gifts of different value, to put on the steps.
  • You want to move the shopper who already qualifies, not just the one who is close.

If your orders cluster tightly, one step is simpler and easier to explain. See Free gift with purchase.

How the template builds it

The app's Gift tiers template is described as "More spent, more gifts, in as many steps as you like." Its example gives one gift at one spend level and two at a higher one. For a reward that is a discount instead of a gift, the "Cart discount tiers" template is described as "A discount on the whole cart that grows with spend."

Space the steps from your own data

Tiered free gifts: build a spend ladder explains how to place the steps from your order history so each one is reachable but costs you something to reach. Tiered discounts on Shopify covers the discount version, and Free gift threshold shows how to read the spread of order values.

To show shoppers how close they are to the next step, see the Progress bar template, described as "Show how close the cart is to a reward."

Be clear about the terms

State each step and the end date wherever the offer appears, as the FTC's Guide concerning use of the word "Free" asks for free offers.

Limits that hold

Set a limit per order and a limit per customer. If a gift sells out, a fallback gift takes its place.
