Mix and Match Bundles for Shopify Stores
Let shoppers pick any items from a set for a fixed price on Shopify: when mix and match fits, how the template works and how to price the choices.
A mix and match bundle lets the shopper pick the items. You set the pool and the price, the shopper fills the slots. It suits catalogs where taste varies, such as snacks, candles or socks, and where a fixed set would leave most people with something they did not want.
When it fits
- You sell many similar items at similar cost, so any combination earns about the same margin.
- Shoppers like to choose, and a fixed bundle would be too narrow.
- You want a clear number to put in front of them, such as three items for one price.
When the items differ a lot in cost, the choice gets expensive: shoppers will fill the bundle with the dearest items in the pool. Fixed or mix-and-match bundle? A decision tree covers that trade-off.
How the template builds it
The app's Mix & match template is described as "Shoppers pick any items from a set for a fixed price." Its example is any three snacks for one price. For a guided, step-by-step experience, the "Bundle builder page" template is described as "A page where shoppers build a box step by step." Both list their requirements on the template page; Shopify Plus may be required for bundles.
Check the math first
Work out the margin of the cheapest and the dearest combination in your pool. If the dearest one loses money, narrow the pool or change the price.
Packing day
Each line in the bundle carries a Bundle label on the order. Your team sees which items were sold together, and the order shows the bundle price as one saving.
