Thank-You Page Upsells for Shopify Stores
Offer a discounted product on the order confirmation page of a Shopify store: when a post-purchase upsell fits, how the template works and how to count it.
A thank-you page upsell shows one more product to a shopper who has just paid. The order is done, so the offer cannot get in the way of checkout; it either adds revenue or it is ignored.
When it fits
- You have an obvious companion to your best sellers, such as a refill, a case or a second size.
- You can offer a discount on it that still earns a margin.
- You want to try an upsell without touching the checkout flow.
How the template builds it
The app's Thank-you page offer (link) template is described as "A link card on the order confirmation page. Nothing is charged; shoppers go to your store." The card on the page links to the product with your discount applied. Unlike the checkout upsell, it does not require Shopify Plus.
Related templates in the same family are "Frequently bought together", which suggests matching products on the product page, and "Checkout upsell", which offers one more product inside checkout and requires Shopify Plus.
Count it honestly
An upsell that sells to people who would have bought anyway is not a win. Upsell revenue attribution, counted honestly shows how to separate the lift from the revenue that was coming. The rest of the reading:
