Quantity Breaks: buy more, save more
Show tiers like 2 items for 10% off on the product page. Create an offer, set the tiers, add the block to your product template and publish.
Quantity Breaks shows tiers such as 2 items for 10% off on the product page. The shopper picks a tier in one tap and the discount applies at checkout without a code. The price shown and the price charged use the same math, and it comes from the quantity in the cart, not from anything the browser sends.
Set it up
- Open Mini apps, then Quantity Breaks, and create a quantity break. Pick a template: Buy more, save more, Twin pack, Stock up or Start from scratch.
- In Offer, choose Applies to: specific products, collections or all products. You can skip products by tag or by name, skip items already on sale, and set a start and end date.
- In Tiers, choose the discount type: percent off, an amount off each item, or a price each. Add up to 6 tiers, each with a number of items, a value, a label, an extra line and a badge. Each tier needs more items than the one before, and only one tier can have a badge.
- Set the look in Look and the words in Messages. Behavior controls the add to cart button label, the stock check and whether the space is reserved so the page does not jump.
- In Placement, use Open the theme editor, add the Quantity Breaks block to your product template under the price and save the theme. Then select Check my theme.
- Publish. The preview prices the tiers with the same math as checkout.
Publish, pause and roll back
Shoppers see the last published version, never your draft. The bar at the top of the editor shows whether the offer is not published, live or paused, and flags Changes not published when your draft differs from what shoppers see.
- Select Publish. After the first publish the button reads Publish changes.
- In the review dialog, check Required before publishing. Each item that is not done has a Fix link that closes the dialog and opens the tab where you fix it.
- Confirm with Publish or Publish changes. Shoppers see it on your store within a few minutes, and the bar shows Delivering to your store until it arrives.
- Pause takes it off your store and keeps your settings and published versions. Resume brings back the version you last published; it does not publish your draft.
- Versions lists the last few published versions. Roll back on a version puts it back in front of shoppers. Your draft is not changed, so publishing again brings your latest edits back.
- Only admins can publish, pause, resume or roll back.
- A product can be in only one live offer. Publishing is refused when a product is already in another live offer, and the message names it.
- Pausing or archiving an offer takes the discount off your store.
Limits
- Up to 6 tiers per offer, and up to 10 live offers.
- Percent off is at most 90%. Amount off and price each are in your store currency.
- Specific products: up to 100. Collections: up to 20.
- If your store sells in more than one currency, only percent off is available.
Billing
A mini app is billed through your Shopify subscription for the app. Shopify allows one active subscription per app, so your store has a single charge made of your App suite plan and every mini app you subscribe to. Only the store owner adds or removes a mini app, from its page in the app, and Shopify asks you to approve the new total. The price is shown on the mini app's page. Development stores use mini apps at no cost. See Mini apps: billing and ended subscriptions.
Troubleshooting
- The block does not show: add it to the product template in the theme editor, then select Check my theme. A theme without a product template cannot use it.
- Publishing is blocked: open the Readiness card, and use each Fix link to go to the tab that needs it.
- A product is in two offers: pause or edit the other offer, or skip the product here.
- The discount is missing at checkout: check the offer is live, the dates have started and the product is not skipped by a tag or sale rule.
Common questions
Do shoppers need a code?
No. The discount applies at checkout from the quantity in the cart.
Can two offers cover the same product?
No. Publishing is blocked and the message names the other offer.
Does it work with several currencies?
Percent off does. Amounts and set prices are in your store currency, so they are turned off in that case.
